The spectacular views around his studio has inspired a collection of work by Strathearn artist Arie Vardi, now showing at the Ruthven Gallery in Auchterarder.

The Methven-based artist explained, "My work is spontaneous and influenced by nature. Most of my work is of landscapes as I'm drawn to nature's colours and the meeting of water and land."
In 1991, Chilean-born Arie moved to Scotland with his family from Jerusalem. Influenced by Scottish-colourist traditions, Arie works as much as possible on-site, but is quick to accept that in his adopted homeland the weather does not always make this easy.
"I take sketches to get the composition, but the final painting is always an interpretation and feeling of the place at the time," he said.
One of the show's centrepieces is 'Meditation', a landscape inspired by a recent trip to the island of Coll.
The Forces of Nature exhibition runs until April 2. Read the article on the The Courier website.
