An exhibition featuring the work of award-winning Perthshire artist Ann Wegmüller opens at The Ruthven Gallery in Auchterarder today.

Ms Wegmüller's work has been acclaimed by the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour through various awards, including the Scottish Arts Club Award in 1996 and at this year's annual exhibition.
Her awards date back to when she was at Dundee's Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, where she was presented with the Mitchell Award in 1981 for being the best first-year student.
Describing her work, the Aberuthven-based artist said, "I usually spend my time walking and looking, sometimes drawing, in the countryside and by the sea.
"Formerly my paintings were landscape-based and descriptive, but they have become more abstract."
Her use of colour - painting colours as she feels they should be rather than as they appear - shows the influence of French artist, Henri Matisse.
"Matisse was using red as an underpaint and then painting on top so the colours were more vibrant and different," she said.
