SELF PORTRAIT

Home Plus Scotland: The Gallery Guide
Nov - Dec 2008

The Ruthven Gallery in Perthshire will be featuring the work of Jennifer Robson in a Winter Exhibition running from 7th November. Born in Dundee in 1982, Jennifer graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2004. Working from home and from her studio at WASPS she still uses everything she can find to create her work from which develops oil paintings, drawings, mixed media and collage. Jennifer regularly exhibits work in galleries around Scotland and has shown nationally in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Dublin Art Fairs.
"My work usually focuses on self-portraiture, with regards to the 'idea' of self. Over the last year and due to my natural growth as an artist I have been questioning, pushing and exploring the way I work. I have always believed that the more realistic or photographic a work is, this will make it the best an artwork can be, and I still believe that skill is of fundamental importance in a piece of art," says Jennifer.
She continues, "I have started to take more risks, trying to 'leap from the edge' and I've started to do this by trying different materials."
The exhibition runs until 24th December.
